The Ministry of Health has replied the Ghana Nurse Midwife Trainees Association’s demand for the payment of the 8 months allowance
According to the MoH, 2019/2020 final year students were due to finish their studies in June 2020 along with the continuing students who had their academic calendar disrupted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 in March 2020
The MoH release further stated that the GoG made payment for the 3 months’ arrears(January, February, March 2020) for continuing students of the 2019/2020 batch of students.
However, there was a window for final year students of the 2019/2020 academic year to return to their campus around October 2020 to complete their studies
According to the MoH, nursing training institutions started their courses in January 2021 instead of September 2020 and are due for the payment of 3 months arrears starting from January to March 2021.
Meaning since academic year couldn’t start in September 2020, allowances for September, October, November,December 2020 will not be paid.
